As part of efforts to support Haitian law enforcement in the fight against gangs, the Panamanian government is preparing to send 200 police officers to the country.
This reinforcement is part of the Kenyan-led Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti (MMSS). The announcement was made by Presidential Counselor Leslie Voltaire, who returned from an official mission to Colombia and El Salvador.
During this trip, Mr. Voltaire met with Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino. It was during this meeting that the Panamanian head of state promised to send security agents to support the MMSS and assist the country's stabilization efforts.
