Argentina is preparing to join the Gang Suppression Force in Haiti

By Haiti Libre, May 4, 2026

According to available information, the Argentine Armed Forces are finalizing the selection of officers to join the staff of the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) in Haiti. Officers are assigned to planning, coordination, liaison, operational support, and command within the multinational component. As of May 1st, 2026, the Argentine Armed Forces General Staff was finalizing preparations for the deployment of its first personnel.

Unlike countries providing combat troops (such as Chad with 1,500 soldiers), Argentina is focusing on logistical and medical support.

Argentina plans to deploy a specialized contingent, primarily composed of military engineers, as part of the GSF. Although the exact number of personnel has not been officially specified. Their mission is already defined by the deployment of a field hospital to support GSF operations.

In this context, Argentina's potential participation falls within a mission distinct from traditional peacekeeping operations.
