The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship, Raina Forbin, and the Minister of Public Works, Transportation and Communications (MTPTC), Joseph Almathe Pierre-Louis, laid the foundation stone. Several state officials participated in the ceremony.
Pending the completion of the renovations, the management of the current VIP lounge has been transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The National Airports Authority (AAN) is providing the Ministry with temporary space to ensure the continuity of protocol services for high-ranking national and foreign officials.
The Director General of the AAN, Bernard Schettini, emphasized his institution's commitment to the project. He believes this initiative will contribute to strengthening the airport's infrastructure.
Minister Joseph Almathe Pierre-Louis indicated that this project is part of the airport's modernization program. According to him, the work should improve operational safety and support the economic and tourism development of the Far North.
For her part, Raina Forbin praised the cooperation between the institutions involved. She announced that the management of the future lounge would focus on staff training and service quality. According to the minister, this infrastructure must meet international standards for diplomatic reception.
