Joseph Delinx, an accountant at the Ministry of Defense, and his wife were arrested on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, at Guy Malary International Airport in Clercine.
The couple were carrying a large sum of cash, according to a well-placed source within the ministry quoted by Vant Bef Info.
The two suspects were quickly taken to the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ) for further investigation. They are currently being held there as part of a procedure that could reveal evidence related to a case of embezzlement or money laundering.
So far, the relevant authorities have not provided details on the exact circumstances of the arrest, nor on the origin of the funds found in the couple's possession. This case has already sparked numerous reactions within the public administration and rekindled debates on the management of resources in state institutions.
