An official from the Fanmi Lavalas political party executive, represented on the Transitional Presidential Council (TPC), has called out the failure of the nine-member presidential structure and called for its members to resign amid a worsening security crisis.
While the TPC is called upon to resolve the security crisis that continues to plunge the country further into what appears to be chaos, the security situation has hardly improved more than a year after it took office.
The number of internally displaced persons in Haiti due to increased violence by armed groups has increased.
So far no concrete measures have been taken by the members of the TPC to address the persistent insecurity. It has only eight months left to organize elections.
While nothing is moving and many are beginning to attest to the failure of the transitional government, a senior official of the Fanmi Lavalas political party, represented on the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), has done the same and called on the presidential structure to throw in the towel.
Joël Edouard Vorbe, known as Pacha Vorbe, a member of the executive committee of the Fanmi Lavalas political organization.
Speaking on Magik9 radio this Thursday, he suggested that the TPC had failed in its primary mission of restoring security.
"The TPC's mission was to restore security. Conversely, the TPC has kept the country insecure. Faced with this failure, there is no alternative but to resign," Vorbe said, also pointing the finger at his party's representative, namely former TPC coordinator Leslie Voltaire.
Vorbe indicated that he has not yet sent any correspondence to the former President of the TPC to invite him to resign, as well as the Minister of Public Works, Raphaël Hosty, who is also a representative of the Fanmi Lavalas political party within the transitional government.
"This position is not a personal matter between the party and its representatives. We have only judged that the failure is widespread," he said, judging that those who currently lead the country have neither morality nor ethics.
Furthermore, Vorbe called on the Haitian population to mobilize to force the members of the TPC to resign.
