Garry Conille launches national forum of civil society organizations

On Thursday June 27, Prime Minister Garry Conille launched a two-day national forum of civil society organizations, taking place from June 27 to 28. The theme of the event is "Participation of youth and women in the ongoing transitional process".

The ceremony was attended by Frinel Joseph, Conseiller-Président, Ulrika Richardson, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary General of the United Nations in Haiti, Cristobal Dupouy, Special Representative of the Secretary General of the OAS in Haiti, and Arnoux Descardes, Executive Director of VDH. 

According to a press release from the Prime Minister's Office, the latter, who took the floor, recognized the importance of integrating young people and women to promote and strengthen the participation of civil society, a key element in the success of the transition in accordance with the Political Agreement for a Peaceful and Orderly Transition signed on April 3, 2024.

According to the press release, Prime Minister Garry Conille emphasized the importance of women and youth in the transition process in his keynote address. "Recognizing the complexity and magnitude of the current challenges", he urged "networks of women's and youth organizations throughout the country to actively engage and support the government in its effort to mobilize at least 50% of the population, an essential condition for the success of this transition".

Garry Conille also stressed "the vital role of civil society organizations as guardians of democratic values, defenders of human rights and drivers of social change".
