Haitian Minister of Commerce and Industry James Monazard speaks with Ambassador Luís Guilherme Nascentes Da Silva

The Minister of Commerce and Industry, James Monazard, met on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, with the Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Haiti, Luís Guilherme Nascentes Da Silva, at the Ministry's headquarters.

Discussions focused in particular on strengthening trade relations between the two countries.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI), the discussions concerned the upcoming signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), as well as the intensification of cooperation between the MCI and Brazilian institutions.

The two parties also discussed issues related to entrepreneurship development and strengthening the technical capacities of the ministry.

They stressed the importance of working towards the development of a trade facilitation agreement, as well as the establishment of joint economic missions.

The MCI indicated that it intends to "support Brazilian companies interested in investing in industrial parks in Haiti, in line with its strategy of promoting investment and revitalizing the national productive fabric."

According to the ministry, this meeting, held on the recommendation of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, aimed to deepen economic and institutional relations between Haiti and Brazil. 

The two parties also discussed opportunities to support priority projects of the MCI, with a view to institutional modernization and improving the performance of public services related to trade and industry.
 
According to the MCI, this initiative reflects a desire to strengthen bilateral relations between Haiti and Brazil, while promoting a mutually beneficial economic partnership.
