The U.S. government announced on Monday, July 21, 2025, the deportation of several legal permanent residents accused of supporting Viv Ansanm. In a statement, Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that these measures will be carried out by the Department of Homeland Security in accordance with Section 237(a)(4)(C) of the Immigration Act.
The individuals targeted have allegedly collaborated with gang leaders affiliated with Viv Ansanm, an organization considered one of the main catalysts of violence and instability in Haiti.
"The United States will not allow individuals with legal status to facilitate the actions of violent or terrorist groups," Rubio said.
Washington's stated goal is to support regional stability, particularly in the Caribbean, by cutting logistical and financial links between its territory and criminal organizations active in Haiti.
