Hello CHIP website readers,
We have just received this message via Alexis Erkert of Other Worlds in Haiti:
Dear friends,
Although Defenders of the Oppressed (DOP) is working on a more detailed account to be sent out, we want to inform you that Attorney Georges has dropped the charges of arson and conspiracy he filed against me with the prosecutor's office. But, he says that the camp must still clear off of his land. The prosecutor apparently caved in to public pressure and didn't show up for today's hearing, so Georges stated orally that the charges would be dropped. We are trying to decide whether or not to request an official letter to the prosecutor.
Thank you for the outpouring of solidarity. This will remain in history's archives. Victory for a people united. We remain strong to keep defending the rights of the oppressed, while we continue to keep our eyes open.
Stay strong,
Patrice Florvilus
