We continue our series on Haiti by speaking with Jake Johnston. Jake is the director of international research at the Center For Economic Research, and early 2024 he published "Aid State: Elite Panic, Disaster Capitalism, and the Battle to Control Haiti." In this interview, Jake describes the neoliberal commodification of international aid, and how it has developed into an Aid Industrial Complex. He describes how the aid campaign to assist Haiti after it was rocked by a massive earthquake in 2010 has actually done more to enrich friends of the Clinton family than materially benefit the people of Haiti.
