Jimmy "Barbeque" Cherizier is an infamous figure in contemporary Haitian politics. Many mainstream outlets refer to him as a "gang leader" or a "warlord," however some would suggest these labels are misleading. One of those dissenting voices is Kim Ives of Haiti Liberte, who has been on the ground in Haiti for over 50 years providing a counterbalance to western news coverage. In his most recent series, co-directed with Dan Cohen, titled "Another Vision," he provides another perspective of the notorious figure known as "Barbeque" who has been demonized by western news outlets.
