Three years after the assassination of President Jovenel Moise, Joverlein Moïse and his family are still struggling to obtain justice, despite the efforts of the two courts in charge of the case. Joverlein Moïse, deeply affected by this situation, vows not to give up the fight for "his father, his compass, his president". "I have often been unable to deal with this reality", he confides sadly.
It was in this spirit of determination that Joverlein Moïse chose to create ALII, an association dedicated to working for truth and justice in Haiti. "I decided to fight. I have decided to be the humble torchbearer of justice", he declares with conviction, inviting the population to join him in this fight with ALII.
Founded a few months ago, Joverlein Moïse explains that the main mission of the association is to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the assassination of Haiti's 58th president, Jovenel Moïse. This mission extends to the fight against all forms of impunity and injustice "which leave victims without a voice and without the possibility of justice".
"This association was created with the aim of institutionalizing the struggle, because this struggle doesn't belong to me. It belongs to all those who feel outraged by this act. They (the masterminds) didn't just murder my father, they murdered our president. They trampled on our sovereignty. This struggle is therefore that of all Haitians and all those who wish to join this quest for justice, whatever their origins and nationalities", he explained.
Joverlein Moïse's speech, in its tone, setting and choice of words, has all the hallmarks of a political message, although he never explicitly stated this intention.
On July 7, the Transitional Presidential Council organized a mass at the Villa d'Accueil, in the presence of Prime Minister Garry Conille, entitled "Temps de Réflexion et de Recueillement en mémoire de le feu Président Jovenel Moïse", who was assassinated on July 7, 2021.
On this occasion, Edgard Leblanc Fils reminded the Minister of Justice, Me Carlos Hercule, "that everything must be done to ensure that public action is taken against the sponsors, perpetrators and accomplices of this heinous assassination."
