On Monday, January 26, 2026, the leader of the Pitit Dessalines political party, Moïse Jean-Charles, declared that Emmanuel Vertilaire had admitted to giving in to foreign injunctions, to the detriment of the interests of Haiti and the political line defended by his party.

Speaking on Radio Caraïbes on January 26, 2026, Moïse Jean-Charles stated that the President-Counselor had confided in him that he had acted under pressure, believing he had no other choice. The leader of Pitit Dessalines indicated, however, that he had outlined the appropriate course of action for him, in accordance with the party's principles.

According to his statements, Emmanuel Vertilaire notably received a call from the United States embassy, urging him not to vote in favor of the Prime Minister's dismissal.
