Following a meeting with Joe Biden's special advisor Juan Gonzalez, they met this Thursday with Brian H. Nicholls, Under Secretary of State for Hemispheric Affairs.

They also spoke of "the need for a return to democratic order through elections".

The human rights defender confirmed that  the meeting in Jamaica was discussed. According to Pierre Esperance, the U.S. government welcomes CARICOM's efforts to find a way out of the Haitian crisis.

On Friday June 2, 2023, Pierre Esperance and Magalie Comeau Denis will meet American authorities at the Pentagon.

These high-level meetings between Pierre Esperance, Magalie C. Denis and Biden administration officials come at a time when some thirty Haitian political and civil society players have been invited to Jamaica with a view to finding a solution to the Haitian crisis.
