May 17--Agence Haitienne de Presse is reporting on demonstrations again this week across Haiti to protest the 18-month extension by the government of the state of emergency prevailing in the country and calling for the resignation of President René Préval and the safe return to Haiti from exile of former president Jean Bertrand Aristide. According to the news agency, a demonstration today in Port au Prince drew 3,000
to 4,000 participants, most of whom answered a call of the Fanmi Lavalas party of President Aristide.
