A new political mobilization is being prepared in Delmas. Those in favor of a transition involving the Court of Cassation have announced a demonstration for September 4, 2026, to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé.

The organizers intend, in particular, to put pressure on the government regarding the security situation in the country. They accuse the authorities of having been informed of the risks associated with the situation in Kenscoff, but of having failed, in their view, to take the necessary measures to prevent the tragedy. They claim that around fifty people were killed.

These accusations come amid a backdrop where the management of insecurity is a major point of contention between the transitional government and its critics. The organizers of the mobilization intend to make the authorities' response to the security crisis a central issue in their protest.

The electoral process initiated by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) is also being challenged by these political actors. They believe that the current conditions do not allow for credible and legitimate elections.

For these sectors, the priority should be the establishment of an institutional framework capable of leading the country towards elections under conditions they deem more favorable.

They thus advocate the idea of a dual-headed government comprising a president from the Court of Cassation and a prime minister chosen on the basis of a consensus between the different political sectors.

This proposal reflects a desire to challenge the current power structure and the political trajectory pursued by the transitional authorities. It comes at a time when debates on the government's legitimacy, security, and the organization of the upcoming elections remain particularly sensitive.

The planned mobilization in Delmas will therefore be a test for the organizers of the protest. Its scale, the participation of various political sectors, and the reaction of the authorities could determine the subsequent balance of power.

For the government of Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, this new political offensive comes at a time when pressure is increasing around security and the electoral calendar.

Political actors announce a demonstration in Delmas on September 4, 2026 to demand the departure of Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and to contest the electoral process of the CEP.
