The Pati Vizyon Dayiti (PVD) claims to have surpassed the 30,000-member threshold mentioned in the electoral process and now boasts 47,000 members. The fledgling political party asserts it will continue recruiting new members and announces its intention to run independently in the upcoming elections, from the ASEC and CASEC to the presidential election.
According to a PVD official, the party continues to receive applications from new members. After they register as members, departmental coordinators assist them with the voter registration process with the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP).
This strategy comes as political actors prepare for a possible electoral process in the country. The PVD, which claims to have been created about a year ago, says it intends to run without joining any political group or coalition.
The party intends to participate in all the announced elections, from the elections of the Communal Section Assemblies (ASEC) and the Communal Section Administrative Councils (CASEC), up to the presidential election.
For the PVD, recruiting members is therefore a central element of its electoral preparation. The party encourages its activists to also take the necessary steps to register as voters.
On Sunday, August 9, 2026, the North-East departmental coordinator of the PVD, Wisler Paul, brought together residents of the department for a meeting devoted to several political and electoral issues.
Discussions focused in particular on the political and security situation in the country, as leaders discussed holding elections.
The PVD's position on the announced electoral process was also among the topics discussed. Participants discussed the reasons that led the party to choose to participate alone in the elections, as well as the strategy implemented to reach the number of members required by the CEP, according to party officials.
The PVD now claims to have 47,000 members, a number higher than the 30,000 threshold it presents as a requirement of the CEP for parties wishing to participate alone in the electoral process.
This distinction is important, especially with the upcoming elections approaching: being a member of a political party and being registered as a voter are two separate processes.
