The Forum of Former Prime Ministers of Haiti (Forum des anciens Premiers ministres d’Haïti -FAPM), composed mainly of former heads of government from or allied with the PHTK-Tèt Kale regime, is now mobilizing to denounce international sanctions that it considers "arbitrary". FAPM is currently focused on the sanctions imposed by Canada "without trial or public production of evidence".
This follows the announcement from the Port au Prince prosecutors office on the imminent seizure of their assets .
"Faced with clumsy attempts to reclaim unilateral, often arbitrary, sanctions at the national level targeting certain Haitian figures, the Forum of Former Prime Ministers notes that the ostracization of the country through some of its leaders has reached a peak. Is the method used truly adapted to the objectives pursued? "
Of course, not one of these former Prime Ministers spoke out about major institutional abuses, such as the illegal referendum project carried by the TPC under the leadership of Enex Jean-Charles, nor about the opacity surrounding the potential integration of Ariel Henry into the Forum. Among the signatories, including Jean-Max Bellerive, Laurent Lamothe, and Jean Henry Ceant—all of whom served, in various capacities, in administrations directly or indirectly affiliated with the PHTK.
The Forum's silence on the current crisis reveals a consistent pattern in the behavior of Haitian elites: They quickly invoke their rights when their status is at stake, but remain silent in the face of systemic violations of collective rights.
