During a press conference held in Port-au-Prince on Monday, February 2, 2026, Fortuné Elysée, spokesperson for the Group Initiative, detailed the arrangements for the march:
"The march will begin this Tuesday, February 3rd, at 10:00 AM in Lalue. We are calling on all relevant organizations, journalists, and media outlets to join us. The goal is to demand that, after February 7th, all CPT leaders be held accountable for their actions before the courts. If our demands are not met, we will consider other forms of action."
Élysée stressed the need for citizens to follow and support the action:
"All those who have been victims of violence or insecurity must be able to seek justice. We demand that, as soon as the CPT's mandate ends, those responsible be summoned to explain themselves and that the public see that justice has been served."
Jean Élysée Céliscar, also a member of the group, emphasized the importance of inclusive dialogue and a responsible transition:
“We call for an open dialogue, including all groups in society, and not limited to supporters of one side or the other. This dialogue must be transparent and supported by the international community, in order to prevent the crisis from worsening.”
Céliscar also emphasized the need to preserve the independence of judicial institutions:
"If magistrates are involved, their independence must be respected. We do not want to compromise the legitimacy of the process by weakening key players."
The “Initiative Group” therefore calls on the population and the media to actively participate in this march, organised in the capital, in order to defend justice, security and the responsibility of the authorities in the post-CPT period.
