The "Mouvman pou sekirite Ba-Latibonit" (MOSEBA), has cancelled a tribute ceremony intended to honor Mario Arthur's commitment, initially scheduled for July 17. This was because the Haitian National Police (PNH) refused to accompany the expected participants in the peaceful march in Saint-Marc.

A victim of armed gangs in Artibonite died without a proper burial. Mario Arthur, 46, a heavy equipment operator who regularly accompanied the PNH in operations to destroy installations in Artibonite controlled by armed groups, was brutally executed on July 7 by the "Kokorat san ras" gang in Bayonnais. His mutilated body could not be recovered by his family for burial.

With the aim of paying tribute to Mario Arthur, the "Mouvman pou sekirite Ba-Latibonit" (MOSEBA) had planned to organize a peaceful march to honor the victim's memory. Initially scheduled for July 17th. André Saint-Louis, coordinator of the Lower Artibonite Peace Initiative Committee (KILBA), said that the mobilization had to be cancelled due to the lack of police escort in the Lower Artibonite region.

Having fought alongside the police against criminal armed groups, Mario Arthur was denied the solidarity of the very institution he supported, lament prominent figures in L'Estère. Like other police officers killed and maimed by armed groups, the L'Estère native died in the complete indifference of the PNH (PNH). No operation to recover his body was carried out; on the contrary, the PNH refused to provide security for the march held in his memory.
