Nine members of the Saint-Marc Communal Coordination Committee of the Pitit Dessalines Political Party announced their collective resignation in a letter dated July 7, 2025, addressed to the secretary general, Moïse Jean Charles.
The letter confirms the departure of the party's representatives in the Artibonite department. While the letter does not specify the exact reasons for this decision, the apparent unanimity among the letter's signatories indicate an attempt to distance themselves from the party's leader.
The signatories include: coordinator Jean Micado Merès, vice-president Jonas Nazaire, secretary Bernard Samuel, assistant secretary Wanyou Saint Fleur, and Gerlo Derisse, who is responsible for political affairs
las well as Angeline Fils Aimé, legal advisor Enès Louisaint, the head of peasant affairs Maxène Germain, and delegate Mackenson Jean Pierre.
The signatories stated that they wanted to "inform the general public, both national and international," while sending Moïse Jean Charles their patriotic greetings.
The polite tone of the letter contrasts its political significance. By withdrawing collectively, these officials are considerably weakening the local base of this political party in a historically strategic city like Saint-Marc.
Pitit Dessalines has been trying to rebuild its base for several months. This coordinated withdrawal may reflect deep disillusionment. Persistent problems such as internal appointments, electoral support, and financial decisions, may have gradually undermined party member's confidence in the national leadership.
