The political coalition Opposition Plurielle has issued a scathing assessment of the first 120 days of the government led by Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé. At a press conference held Wednesday in Port-au-Prince, its leaders denounced several measures they deem contrary to democratic principles and likely to jeopardize the electoral process.

Leaders of the platform have criticized the new requirements imposed on political parties wishing to participate in the upcoming elections. They contest the requirement to gather up to 100,000 members and the registration fees demanded, arguing that these provisions limit access to the electoral process.

The national coordinator of the Plural Opposition, Rodol Pierre, described these measures as a threat to political pluralism. He pointed out that the law on political parties already sets out the conditions for the operation and participation of political organizations in democratic life.

The lawyer also called on the authorities to apply Article 149 of the 1987 Constitution, which he considers an essential step towards restoring constitutional order and strengthening the credibility of public institutions.

Furthermore, they denounced the deterioration of basic services in several regions of the country. Its leaders cited the closure of schools and hospitals in the West, Central, and Artibonite departments, seeing it as a sign of the government's inability to meet the needs of the population.

The group's president, Jeantel Joseph, called for citizen mobilization in the lead-up to June 7th. He urged the population to defend their rights, national sovereignty, and the country's democratic achievements.

Mr. Joseph also called for the restoration of security throughout the national territory, with particular attention to Artibonite, where insecurity continues to affect the living conditions of the inhabitants.

Through this stance, the plural opposition is intensifying its criticism of the government and demanding concrete measures to address the political, social and security crisis that Haiti is experiencing.
