PressLakay Agency believes that the communication formats currently used by the Haitian National Police do not sufficiently facilitate journalistic work. The dissemination of brief notes illustrated with photographs on the institution's official platforms does not always provide journalists with the necessary information to properly analyze, contextualize, and report on actions carried out in the field.
Without claiming to speak for all media outlets, PressLaKay nevertheless emphasizes the importance of more structured institutional communication between the police and the press. The agency encourages the PNH's communications officers to reinstate recognized professional practices, including providing verifiable sources, detailed briefing notes, and regular press conferences to enable journalists to fully carry out their mission of informing the public.
This approach appears all the more essential in a country where insecurity is now one of the main concerns of the population, and where citizens expect precise information on the actions taken by the institution headed by Vladimir Paraison.
For PresLa Kay, strengthening the professional dialogue between the Haitian National Police and the media would not only help improve the quality of available information, but also consolidate public trust in institutions engaged in the fight against insecurity.
