Speaking to journalists, the leaders of this Progressive Opposition, including Anibal Coffy, Jeantel Joseph, and Jonas Coffy, expressed their concerns about a national situation they consider increasingly difficult for the population. They cited persistent insecurity, economic hardship, and the fragility of institutions as signs of a system that, in their view, no longer meets citizens' expectations.
For the Progressive Opposition, the promises of change linked to the transition have not been followed by concrete results. The movement's leaders believe that Haitians continue to live in uncertainty, while everyday problems remain without real solutions.
Reflecting on their mobilization of July 2nd, political leaders assert that this demonstration revealed a profound need for change in society. They consider this gathering a warning to the authorities and the beginning of a new phase of political mobilization.
On the security front, the organization criticizes the government's response and asserts that the population remains abandoned in the face of escalating violence. It calls on the authorities to review their strategy and adopt measures capable of restoring public trust.
The Progressive Opposition has also questioned the conditions under which the upcoming elections could be held. It is calling for a credible, transparent, and inclusive process, while expressing reservations about the role of the institutions responsible for preparing the vote.
Through this public statement, the Progressive Opposition intends to maintain pressure on the government and calls for a national mobilization to, it says, open a new political chapter in Haiti.
