Meeting in Bamako on Monday, August 25, 2025, the Ministers of Justice and Human Rights of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES) strongly condemned the sanctions and harassment suffered by several Pan-Africanist figures, including Kemi Seba and Nathalie Yamb. They denounced serious violations of fundamental rights and called for an investigation into the death of activist Alain Christian Traoré, known as "Alino Faso."

The AES raises its voice against the European sanctions imposed on Kemi Seba and Nathalie Yamb

In a statement dated Monday, August 25, 2025, the ministers of the Economic and Social Agency (ESA) expressed their "strong indignation" at the measures they deemed arbitrary taken against Pan-African activists. They specifically cited the sanctions imposed on June 26, 2025, by the European Union against Nathalie Yamb , including a ban on entry to and transit within the European area, as well as the freezing of her assets.

The text also addresses the death of Alain Christian Traoré, known as "Alino Faso ," a Burkinabè activist who died in Ivory Coast after an arrest and detention denounced as illegal. The ministers demand that Ivorian authorities conduct a "transparent and thorough" investigation to fully clarify the circumstances of this tragedy and bring those responsible to justice.

Beyond these cases, the Confederation also denounces the harassment targeting other Pan-Africanist figures such as Franklin Nyamsi, Kemi Seba, and Ibrahima Maïga, in France and elsewhere. According to the ministers, these acts constitute violations of universal human rights, contravening the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights.

The statement describes these sanctions and crackdowns as maneuvers aimed at "silencing African voices calling for an end to neocolonialism" and intimidating those advocating for a more equitable international order. Through this statement, the African Union of Socialists (AES) reaffirms its solidarity with all Pan-Africanists and accuses certain foreign powers of exploiting the very values they claim to defend. It also calls on African peoples and organizations to strengthen their unity and solidarity.
