The National Education Fund (FNE) is once again under pressure following serious accusations made by the “Kolektif Direktè Lekòl pou Rezilyans Edikasyon nan Peyi Dayiti” (Collective of School Directors for Education Reform in Haiti). The Collective claims that 500,000 gourdes, already released to assist schools affected by insecurity, has been withheld at the FNE's headquarters.
According to the organization, these funds had been approved under the previous administration led by Sterline Civile. But since the arrival of Director General Elysée Colagène, the program has reportedly been completely paralyzed.
The group is now demanding a public explanation about the true destination of this money.
At a time when insecurity continues to devastate the Haitian education system, this case has sparked outrage. Several of the affected schools reportedly relied on this financial aid to maintain their operations despite armed violence and the forced displacement of families.
For the Kolektif, the silence surrounding this issue is worrying. The collective denounced opaque management and asserted that school principals have received no clear information regarding the program's suspension.
This case now places the FNE at the center of a controversy over the management of funds intended for national education.
Given the seriousness of the accusations, the Kolektif is directly calling on the Minister of National Education, Vijonet Déméro, to intervene quickly.
The group demands:
a detailed report on the 500,000 gourdes;
official explanations from the FNE management;
the immediate resumption of the program to assist schools affected by insecurity.
