According to Dr. Josué Renaud, Fils-Aimé met with relatives in New York, not the diaspora

Acting Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, who arrived in New York Sunday evening to participate in the 81st United Nations General Assembly, is facing accusations of misleading political communication. A meeting on security in Haiti, organized with the assistance of Haitian diplomatic missions in Manhattan, reportedly brought together primarily figures close to the government.

According to information gathered by Rezo Nòdwès , instructions were given to the consulate regarding the strict composition of the audience, which was to include only friends of the government.

Dr. Josué Renaud disputes this official presentation. Having been informed of the meeting, he asserts that no general invitation was sent to the diaspora. He questions, in particular, the absence of Haitian religious leaders and human rights defenders based in New York. "A meeting of cronies," he denounces, refusing to acknowledge the representative nature attributed to this assembly by the Prime Minister's office.

The consul's invitation, setting the meeting for Sunday, September 20, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., did indeed specify that the invitations were not transferable.

Haiti's security relocated to Manhattan, the protest movement excluded from the dialogue? For Dr. Renaud, this meeting cannot be considered a consultation with the Haitian community. He points out that members of the diaspora had publicly challenged, before his departure, Fils-Aimé's legitimacy to speak at the United Nations on behalf of the Haitian people.

The government statement, however, presents the meeting as an exchange with the community and announces commitments regarding security, elections, and the diaspora's economic participation. Neither the list of guests nor the selection criteria for participants are included.

Another controversy at the highest levels of diplomacy concerns Raina Forbin's nationality. Former diplomat Pierre-Antoine Louis claims that the Foreign Minister holds American citizenship.

This claim is consistent with information published as early as March 2026 regarding his alleged registration on Florida voter lists.
